About
Rachel Farber is an acupuncturist, herbalist, writer, educator, and yoga teacher who has specialized in helping people make peace with food for over 15 years. She weaves the arts of compassion and mindfulness through her practice of the ancient sciences of Chinese medicine and yoga to guide others on their journeys. Rachel has found that disordered eating patterns, obesity, depression, and low self-esteem are reflections not only of internal disharmony, but of a greater cultural disharmony that is played out in individual lives. She encourages her clients to fully experience their feelings, their bodies, and their lives, as well as to educate themselves about sustainable food systems, nutrition, and the politics of food.
Rachel holds a BA from Wellesley College and an MS from the American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine. She holds licenses to practice acupuncture in California and nationally. She has taught at the American College Traditional Chinese Medicine and is currently on the faculty of the Arcata School of Massage, where she teaches Chinese medical theory and her own form of bodywork: Blissbody Therapy, a combination of Breema, acupressure, shiatsu and craniosacral therapy.
In addition to private practice, Rachel offers courses and workshops for laypeople and alternative health practitioners. She also leads workshops for women in creating true nourishment by overcoming dieting, binging, and obsession.
Rachel lives in northern California with her husband, two children, and Belly, the wonder dog.
